Measuring and Achieving Equity in Program Research
September 12 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Virtual Event
This webinar will explore indicators and metrics for measuring progress toward and achievement of racial equity or equitable programs. Metrics are an emerging area of importance for the operationalization of equity as they may guide investment and policy decisions that shape the health and human services system. This webinar aims to advance equity metrics for use in planning and implementing equity action plans.
This webinar is intended to enable discussion and collaboration among stakeholders, as the objectives embodied in equity metrics are often beyond the control of individual stakeholders. Further stakeholder discussion is necessary to determine which metrics are measurable and “winnable”, who will use them, and how they will be used to support equity. This webinar also identifies metrics related to racial equity in the social safety net and early education and care system that are either in use by organizations currently or have been recommended.

About The 2024 Research Capacity Building Webinar Series
The Center presents its 2024 monthly webinar series to advance interdisciplinary community-engaged research that will inform programs and policies to better serve African American children and families.
The webinars will build research capacity and recommend methods to conduct research relevant to the ACF program and policy goals and communicate community-engaged research approaches to a broad audience of students, community leaders, practitioners, researchers, and state and federal policymakers.
Ultimately, these webinars will inform approaches to improve the well-being of African American children and families.
Objectives
The objectives of the monthly Webinar Series are to describe:
Relevant research methods can be used to define and measure the needs, assets, and experiences of African American children and families, specifically those with low incomes.
Community-engaged and other research that identifies and assesses barriers and facilitators of access to and utilization of TANF/poverty alleviation, Head Start/Early Head Start, and child care financial assistance programs by African Americans.
Promising strategies and approaches in TANF, Head Start/Early Head Start, and child care financial assistance programs for African American children and families.
Effective strategies for communicating and disseminating relevant research findings that promote the well-being of African American children and families, specifically in areas aligned with ACF’s and The Center’s research priorities.
